An invited talk was arranged at RIMMS Seminar hall on Friday at 10:00 am (22/03/2019). The title of the talk was “Emergency Communication Systems for Events and Disaster Recovery”. The speaker details are as follows:
Speaker Name: Dr Muhammad Ali Imran
Speaker Biography: Dr Imran is a Professor in Communication Systems at the University of Glasgow, Vice Dean of Glasgow College UESTC. He is Director for communication, sensing and imaging group. He is an adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma, USA. He has led several research projects encompassing the areas of energy efficiency, fundamental performance limits, sensor networks and self-organising cellular networks. He has supervised 40 successful PhD graduates and published over 400+ peer-reviewed research papers including more than 25 IEEE Transaction papers. He has been awarded IEEE Comsoc’s Fred Ellersick award 2014 and FEPS Learning and Teaching award 2014. He is a senior member of IEEE, Fellow IET and a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK. Prof. Imran has successfully managed several projects including being coordinator and Principal Investigator of the £1.2m EPSRC funded REDUCE project, Surrey Coordinator of €14m EU FP7 funded EARTH project, SON research theme coordinator for the £20m India-UK Advanced Technology Centre. In addition, he holds the position of research director of the Communications Sensing and Imaging Research Labs at Glasgow and leads the 5G research and demonstration activities as part of £1bn Smart Campus project at Glasgow.
